Please note: This tip is for removing a large, low-hanging branch that is 8-feet or lower from the ground. For the sake of safety— if the branch is higher than 8-feet— hire a professional to perform the task.
Step 1: Make a small under-cut to the bottom of the branch and close to the trunk— about an inch deep This cut is to prevent bark from peeling away from the trunk and damaging the tree.
Step 2: Cut the branch in half, which reduces the weight of the limb on which you're working.
Step 3: Make a clean cut on the top-side of the branch, as close to the tree's trunk as possible and carefully seperate the limb from the tree.
Step 4: Spray the fresh cut area with a Pruning Sealant. The water-proof sealant acts as a bandage for the open cut.
If your'e using a chainsaw to perform the cutting, be sure to wear a hardhat, protective eyewear and gloves.
